Hello!
So I got back to London on Sunday from my trip to Qatar. It was brilliant to work as a ring announcer with wrestling stars at QPW Superslam III such as Mick Foley, Nick Nemeth, Miro and Jushin Thunder Liger.
Apologies to those of you who came to Too Far Comedy on Monday as I wasn’t able to give my MCing my usual gusto because I lost my voice. Not ideal…
As you’ll see from this video I might have started too hot too early with my ring announcing… This was just the start of two three-hour shows…
So I’m sipping lots of honey, lemon and ginger and I should be back raring to go on Monday! Come join us at the Artillery Arms from 7.15pm.
😂 Far Too Funny List
📺 Watching - During my Qatar Airways flight to Doha, I watched Seth Meyers’ latest special Dad Man Walking (available in the UK on Sky Comedy). I was laughing so loud during the flight that the guy next to me then started watching it. Having watched this and his last special Lobby Baby, I really like his style and as I continue to find my voice on stage, Meyers is definitely the type of comedian I’d like to work towards becoming.
🎧 Listening - Also on my flight I listened to an old episode of The Comedians’ Comedian podcast with the Australian comedian Aaron Chen. It was interesting to hear how Aaron first used Judy Carter’s Comedy Bible to help him write one-liner jokes and that craft has stuck with him as he now moves on to longer stories and gags.
📕 Reading - I’ve just read The Complete Comedy Writer by the multi-award-winning BBC comedy writer Dave Cohen. It has lots of valuable insights, particularly on writing sitcoms.
