Hello!
I hope you’ve all been enjoying getting back to the stand up comedy clubs either watching or performing. We can’t wait to return to the Artillery Arms for Too Far Comedy on January 22nd.
In next week’s newsletter, the sign-up form will be going live for spots at Too Far Comedy for February. Those of you subscribed will get a 24-hour headstart next Thursday before we post it on public forums etc. If you have any friends who are keen to perform please get them to subscribe at toofarcomedy.com.
In the meantime, here’s the list!
😂 Far Too Funny List
📺 Watching - There’s been a swathe of new comedy specials on Netflix to kick off the New Year. One that I enjoyed more from a process point of view than for the gags is Kevin Hart & Chris Rock: Headliners Only. It’s a behind-the-scenes documentary as the two world-famous comedians team up to do a run of gigs in New York, culminating with shows together at the iconic Madison Square Garden. It’s interesting and inspiring to hear about their journeys to the top. There is a star-studded list of contributors as well.
🎧 Listening - I’ve been listening to a few episodes from series two of DMs are Open on BBC Sounds. The reason is they are now accepting applications for sketches for their third series coming up BBC Radio 4. It’s a rare open-door process of getting yourself a comedy writing credit and they pay a little bit of moolah as well.
📕 Reading - A hat tip to Jacob Hatton on the Angel Comedy Writing Gym Facebook group who not only flagged the submission process for DMs are Open but also a fantastic blog post on the Comedy Loser giving some brilliant tips if you plan to submit.
🎬 My New Videos
A friend of mine told me a few months ago that he really enjoyed my vlogs but was wondering when was the payoff coming? When would there be a happy ending? Well this is the week where there is finally a happy ending in the video: Winning Joke of the Night! - In case you missed it, please check out the latest video and SUBSCRIBE! I’m aiming to get to 500 subscribers as soon as possible so I’d appreciate your help. Thank you!
