Hello!
Happy Boxing Day! For those celebrating I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Too Far Comedy returns on January 6th at the Artillery Arms. Thanks to everyone who applied to perform with us, all the spots have now been allocated. Apologies if you didn’t get a spot with us this time. Please try again when the form for February comes out in this newsletter in a few weeks.
In this week’s Funny List it’s your favourite pieces of audio content I’ve shared in the past year.
😂 Far Too Funny List
🎧 Listening - The Instagram algorithm chucked a clip my way of Russell Kane talking about how he booked his first gig. And that put me on to his full interview on the Fist of Firsts with Tim Reid podcast. It’s an excellent conversation. Kane talks about his relentless work ethic and breaks down the creativity techniques he uses to conjure material. He also explains how he structures his award-winning Edinburgh shows.
🎧 Listening - Earlier this year I was a guest on Marc Cox’s excellent Open-Mic Comedy Podcast. I explain how Too Far Comedy came together, along with the ups and downs of running a stand-up comedy show in London. It’s a really fun chat and Marc asks some superb questions. There’s lots in there including why I have been a wrestling ring announcer in Qatar. And you won’t believe what I say my walk-on track would be for Live at the Apollo. What would yours be? Let me know your answer in the comments.
🎧 Listening - I listened to an episode of You Should've Been Here Last Week with Steve Gribbin and Paul Ricketts. There was lots to learn in their conversation with comedian Susan Murray who has been performing for nearly 30 years. Susan still runs a night in Walthamstow and has helped transform how comedians have been able to make a living.
