Hello!
A good time was had by all this past Monday at Too Far Comedy. Even if I did spill my drink across the stage midway through the first half!
We’ll be back for laughs - and hopefully less-spillage - this Monday at the Artillery Arms. We have a cracking lineup, so come join us.
😂 Far Too Funny List
📺 Watching - I’ve just watched American comedian Mark Normand for the very first time. He has a recent special on Netflix called Soup to Nuts. He covers a lot of topics with a very high joke count!
🎧 Listening - I’ve always enjoyed the work of Russell Howard, ever since I saw him as a support act for Harry Hill in a random golf club gig, not far from Heathrow, back in about 2007. Well, Russell has a new podcast called Wonderbox. Essentially it’s the opposite of the old BBC show Room 101. Instead of putting things that you hate in a room, it’s a place where you keep little reminders of what makes life worth living. The first episode I listened to was with John Oliver. And it was laugh out loud funny. The pair had such a great repartee and the episode just whizzed through. I highly recommend.
📕 Reading - There’s a fascinating interactive article on the New York Times called How Taylor Tomlinson Nailed the Closing Joke in her Netflix Special. It’s an in-depth look at how the new After Midnight host would tweak her material over months to get it perfect for her special.
