Hello!
I’m back from the United States. I heard great things about Too Far Comedy in my absence, so thanks to Toni Divic for hosting and Kristian Allman helping run the night.
I’m looking forward to being back at the Artillery Arms this Monday for more Too Far Comedy. You know the drill, doors open at 7.15pm, free entry!
😂 Far Too Funny List
📺 Watching - I mentioned a few weeks ago that I quickly read the book I received for Christmas, The Elsie Drake Letters (aged 104). It was written by Robert Popper so I went down a Google rabbit hole to find out that he was the writer behind the Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner. I hadn’t watched it before and quickly smashed all six seasons! There are some really funny, laugh out loud moments in every episode. It always makes me smile when I hear the doorbell ring on the show and see it’s Jim and his dog Wilson.
🎧 Listening - “Your stories should be examples of your points,” was just one of the many really interesting things Rhys James says on the craft of writing comedy on the Some Laugh podcast. Scottish comedians Marc Jennings, Stephen Buchanan and Stuart McPherson host this podcast and this was the first time I have listened to it and thought it was excellent.
📕 Reading - Over at the Authentic Comedian, Caroline Clifford has put together a list of useful tips in an article called: How to "win" at stand-up.
