Hello!
I’m back from the Edinburgh Fringe. Got to say it was so cool seeing so many comedians who have performed at Too Far Comedy over the last few years putting on shows up there.
I did a few spots while I was there and they made me come to a big decision about my future in comedy. More on that in next week’s newsletter.
No Too Far Comedy this Monday as it’s a Bank Holiday. We’ll be back on September 1st!
😂 Far Too Funny List
📺 Watching - Jim Jefferies’ new Netflix special Two Limb Policy has landed, and as you’d expect, it’s not for everyone. The Aussie comic leans into his usual mix of sharp storytelling and deliberately close-to-the-bone material, so consider yourself warned. But if you’re up for some provocative stand-up with some terrific act outs, it’s worth a watch.
🎧 Listening - I finally listened to Stewart Lee’s 41st Best Stand-Up Ever! on Apple Music, though I’d actually read the full transcript first in his book How I Escaped My Certain Fate. It’s fascinating comparing the page to the performance, especially his Tom O’Connor bit. Classic Lee.
📕 Reading - I just read Vulture’s This New Stand-up Comedy Video Game Is Frighteningly Realistic. Sketch duo Hotel Art Thief imagine Standup Comedy 2K25, where Remus Tarb speedruns his career by podcasting about poo, shaking down Mum for rent, and exploiting bizarre “glitches” in the comedy circuit. Full of sly background gags and surreal twists, it shows that comedy stardom might feel less like winning and more like being cursed.
