Hello!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!
Yes, this Monday we will be celebrating the 1st anniversary of Too Far Comedy!
It was in early January last year that I was in the upstairs room - The Barracks - at The Artillery Arms for a work-leaving party for a couple of colleagues and thought “This would be a great room to run a comedy night.”
The next day I emailed the team at the pub and met the following day where the conversation basically went: “When do you want to start?”
Two weeks later we put on our first show and it’s been a blast ever since!
We’ve got a great show lined up for you this Monday so please come along and celebrate with us.
😂 Far Too Funny List
📺 Watching - I first came across Pete Holmes on his Judd Apatow-produced series Crashing. Pete’s latest Netflix special: I Am Not For Everyone is the first time I’ve seen him do an hour show. His joke about how phones are listening to you is shocking but funny!
🎧 Listening - I’ve mentioned before how useful I find the Hot Breath podcasts. Host and comedian Joel Byars’ interview with Brandon Lewin is a little different. It’s all about marketing a comedy event and Brandon’s plan to grow his brand Big Laugh Comedy. With his years of experience in digital marketing for Fortune 500 companies, it gave me a lot to think about, especially about the potential growth of Too Far Comedy.
📕 Reading - You know you love the TV show The Bear too much when you and your wife are shouting in the kitchen “Behind! Behind!” all the time. But what I didn’t know is the actress Ayo Edebiri - who plays Sydney - was a stand-up comedian before she took up the Emmy-winning role. I found out reading this article in Prestige. I admit I’m not sure why I’m reading a publication targetted at the affluent, influential, and Asia’s social elite…
